Edi Winanto (born 7 May 1997 in Kebumen, Central Java) is an Indonesian entrepreneur and pharmacist involved in multiple sectors, including trade, healthcare, technology, and investment. He is the CEO and founder of Winanto Group (PT. Winanto Group Indonesia), a diversified holding company and integrated business ecosystem operating across various industries.

Origin and family background

Edi Winanto was born in Pujotirto, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. He is the son of Mad Sumarno and Nasiyem, both of whom are of Javanese origin.

Early life and education

Prior to his university education, Edi Winanto studied at SD Negeri 2 Kalipuru, SMP Negeri 5 Wadaslintang, and SMA Negeri 1 Pejagoan.

Edi Winanto graduated from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta, with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy. He later continued his professional pharmacist education at the same institution and earned the title of Pharmacist (Apoteker).

During his university years, he participated in a community service program focused on the digitalization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kebumen, Central Java.

Research and academic work

During his studies in pharmacy, Edi Winanto conducted research related to herbal and pharmaceutical materials. His undergraduate thesis discussed the effect of storage duration on curcuminoid levels in dried turmeric rhizomes sold at Beringharjo Market, Yogyakarta.

Career

Edi Winanto began his professional career as an employee at PT. Phapros Tbk in 2023.

In 2024, he joined PT. Habbasyi Niaga Utama in Depok, Indonesia, serving as a Responsible Pharmacist and Regulatory Affairs professional.

Edi Winanto started his entrepreneurial journey from the ground up. Before becoming a businessman, he previously worked as an employee in several companies during the early stages of his career.

He later founded a multi-sector holding company named PT. Winanto Group Indonesia, commonly known as Winanto Group. The business was built independently from the beginning and has continued to grow under his leadership.

Edi Winanto expanded his business activities into healthcare, technology, digital business, investment, and consumer industries through the development of various subsidiaries and affiliated companies.

Success

Edi Winanto believes that courage and optimism in facing the future are important keys to achieving success. According to him, the other essential elements of success come from prayer, hard work, focus, discipline, consistency, and maintaining trust.

He believes that life must have clear targets and goals. Without targets, the achievements one wishes to attain will be difficult to realize.

According to Edi Winanto, failure and mistakes are inevitable parts of the entrepreneurial journey. However, he remains optimistic that persistence and the courage to continue trying are the keys to success. He believes that continuously learning from mistakes and failures through a process of trial and error will eventually lead a person toward success.

Edi Winanto also states that one important strategy for achieving success is learning from people who have already succeeded. According to him, studying their experiences and understanding the steps they took can help others achieve similar success.

He further emphasizes that in order to achieve success, a person must possess adequate competence, capacity, and capability. To develop these qualities, one must maintain strong character, commitment, integrity, perseverance, hard work, and discipline.

Edi Winanto highlights the importance of continuous innovation, adaptability to change, and constant efforts toward self-improvement. He believes that life should be a never-ending process of learning.
